How much faster is a Level 2 charger than the cord my car came with?

Roughly five to nine times. The 120-volt travel cord adds three to five miles of range per hour; a Level 2 charger on a 240-volt circuit adds 25 to 45. In practice that's the difference between 'always vaguely charging' and 'full every morning.'

Will my panel handle a Level 2 charger?

That's the first question we answer, with a load calculation instead of a guess. Many Coast homes handle a 40- or 48-amp charger fine; many older 100-amp homes don't without help. Load-management devices can sometimes bridge the gap without a panel upgrade — we lay out every option with real prices.

Which charger brands do you install?

Any UL-listed unit you choose — hardwired or plug-in — and we're happy to recommend proven ones if you'd rather not research. What we won't do is install bargain no-name units on a 40-amp circuit; that's a corner with your house on the other side of it.

Do EV charger installs need a permit?

Yes — a new 240-volt circuit is permitted, inspected work in Gulf Coast jurisdictions, and it should be. Ours come with the permit, the inspection, and the documentation your insurer and the charger's warranty both want.

Can you install a charger outdoors or in a carport?

Yes. Plenty of Coast homes charge outside. It takes a NEMA-rated outdoor unit, weather-sealed connections and proper mounting height — details that matter double in salt air and driving rain. Done right, outdoor charging is completely routine.

Bolting the unit to the wall is the easy hour; the real work is confirming your service and panel can carry it alongside everything else your home runs on an August evening. That's a load calculation, and we do it before quoting, not after installing.

When the panel has room, great — straightforward install. When it doesn't, you'll get options in plain numbers: a smaller charger that still beats the travel cord five times over, a load-management device that shares capacity intelligently, or a panel upgrade if the house genuinely needs one anyway.
